Our Story
Founded in 2023 in Dothan, Alabama, LaserShots was built on a simple frustration: too many people who wanted to learn about firearms—or just enjoy the thrill of shooting—felt shut out by traditional ranges. Between the soaring cost of ammunition, the intimidation of live-fire lanes, expensive gear, and the liability of placing a live weapon in the hands of a beginner or child, the barrier to entry was simply too high.
David, LaserShots' founder, saw an opportunity to rethink the experience. With over 30 years of shooting experience—spanning competitive shooting to serving as a Match Director for NSSF 2-Gun matches—and as a parent looking for a safer, more intuitive way to introduce his own kids to the shooting sports, he set out to build something different: a welcoming destination where the skill-building and adrenaline of shooting didn't require live ammunition, expensive gear, or prior experience.
That vision became LaserShots—the Wiregrass region's premier consumer-facing firearms simulator facility and firearms retail store.
Today, LaserShots proudly serves our entire community, from first-time visitors looking for a unique night out with friends to experienced concealed-carry holders, law enforcement, and military personnel sharpening real-world skills. What is a firearms simulator?
A firearms simulator is an advanced digital system that replicates the feel, operation, and marksmanship fundamentals of shooting real firearms—without using live ammunition.
Instead of firing live rounds downrange, simulators use real or replica firearms equipped with precise laser emitters and gas-powered recoil systems. When you pull the trigger, high-speed infrared cameras track exactly where your shot lands on a digital projection screen in real time.

Do I need to bring my own firearm or gear?
Not at all! LaserShots provides all the simulated firearms and technology you need for a complete experience, and no protective safety gear or ammunition is required.
However, if you prefer to train on your own personal firearm, you are welcome to bring it! We utilize state-of-the-art simulator technologies such as CoolFire Trainer, DryFire Mag, and Mantis, allowing you to safely use your personal handgun or AR-platform rifle in our simulator without live ammo or permanent modifications.
